Lunch Date

I went and had lunch with Joshua at his school today. He was not expecting me so he was excited when I walked in the cafeteria. Today's menu: Corn dogs. I got to meet a lot of the kids that Joshua talks about from school. All of the kids were excited to see another adult around so I got to hear lots of stories and open lots of milk. Joshua was so proud to have me there. I know I need to enjoy it now because I am sure it will only be a matter of time before I will embarrass him by showing up with his friends around. I was only there about 25 minutes but I was glad to leave when it was time. God bless teachers! I was happy to walk away from the screaming kids, spilled lunches, and dirty hands.

Do it yourself haircuts

Okay, so maybe I am a little cheap, but I don't like the fact that I pay almost $30 for the boys to get haircuts every few weeks. They don't even have a "hair style." Usually it is just cut really short. So I kept saying I was just going to do it myself and save a few dollars. Today was the day! I bought some clippers at Target, which have already paid for themselves, and decided to give the boys a hair cut. Honestly, I expected complete disaster. To my surprise that did not occur! I did cut it a little shorter than I wanted but at least there are no gaps or bald spots on either of them. Their hair grows so fast it won't be short for long. I am excited for the money I saved today! Now if I could only get Dylan out of diapers!

School 5 days + Joshua = Meltdown!!

OH MY!!!! Joshua has done a great job with getting up and getting ready for school. He does the usual whining that most kids do when they have to get up early, but over all he does well. Tim and I have noticed as the week goes on his mood when he comes home from school gets a little worse everyday. He gets so upset over the smallest issues and cries like a little girl when he doesn't get his way. He lets Dylan totally upset him with the silliest stuff. Most days we can handle it, BUT Fridays are awful!!!!! The past 4 Fridays in a row he has walked through our front door with the worst attitude. It normally only takes 2 seconds for the drama to start, and once it does, you better watch out!! We have had plans almost every Friday to go run errands or do something with the kids but each week we have had to allow time for Joshua to go lay down on our bed for 20 minutes and compose himself. Once he gets all of his emotions out he is normally okay. I know that is a really long day for the school kids so we try to be understanding when dealing with him. He is such a sweet kid, but beware of the Friday afternoon meltdown!!!

Another busy weekend....

As usual we had a lot going on this weekend. Friday morning Dylan and I went with Gram to the craft show. It is our yearly tradition to hit up the craft fair. We usually walk around for an hour or so looking at everything and saying "I could make that!" Of course neither one of us do so we continue to go the the craft show every year. It is our official kick off to Fall! We had a great time walking around and saw lots of cool stuff this year. It was defiantly better than it has been in the past. Dylan was so good and stayed in the stroller the entire time. (I did bribe him with a lollipop though!) After the show we went to Rosie's for lunch. When Joshua got home from school that afternoon, Tim suggested we take the kids to the nature trail near by and go walk since the weather was so nice. That was a great idea. We had a really good time. We brought the wagon and the kids rode in that some and walked too. I think we went about 4 miles. Dinner was getting close so we grabbed some McDonald's and went home. (always healthy to go walk and then have fast food!) Oh well!
Saturday morning I worked at the store. Tim was staying home with the kids and they were all going to work on cleaning up the house. Joshua Raymond (the store owner's grandson) ended up coming over to play with the kids for most of the day. Tim was "Daddy Day Care" that day! He did great with the kids and still got most of the Honey Do List done!
Sunday we went to church as usual. Most Sunday afternoons are filled with errands and house work but since most of it was already done we actually got to have a relaxing afternoon. Joshua had his friend Diego over and Dylan slept for 2.5 hours so Tim took a nap and I watched Trash TV. Yay! I had to be back at the church later that afternoon and also had a Birthday dinner to go to. Tim decided to take the kids over to his friend's house. (His name is Tim too.) His wife was working so the the guys played with and fed the kids. Our kids had fun playing with Meg and Baby Ava.
We had another great fun filled weekend!

Week in Review....

I was bad this past week about blogging. I kept thinking I needed to go do a post but I never got around to it.( I know you are devastated!) We have had a very busy week so I will just give you a mini review! Last Thursday Aunt Donna (Tim's sister) came up. She needed some car seats for her grandchildren and we had some extra ones so she came up to get them and visit. We had a fun morning doing some shopping. The kids were both in school so that gave us so time to check out Kohls and Old Navy. We met Tim for lunch at P.F.Changs at Bridgestreet. It was sooo good! After lunch we did some more shopping before going to pick up Dylan from school. When we got home we looked at Donna's vacation pictures and then she had to head home. Friday morning Gram watched Dylan for me so I could get the grass mowed for Tim. I knew we had lots going on over the weekend so I wanted to get that out of the way for him. After Gram brought Dylan home we went and ran some errands and cleaned up the house. Gram came back over later that afternoon and had dinner with us since Grampie was out of town. Saturday morning we went the the "Mom and Son Olympics" at the church. Tim and Jason Gjesvold were put in charge of this event. They have worked really hard on planning it for a few months. It was such a fun event. They had different events for the moms and sons to do together. It was all geared toward little kids. We did an egg drop, obstacle course, races, and water events. We had lunch outside and the kids even had inflatables to play on. The guys did a great job planning this. I have done it no justice in my explanation of it, but it was GREAT!!! After the Olympics was over we came home and rested and then had a birthday party to go to. Our neighbor Eva was turning 4. We went to her house and had dinner and birthday cake. We sat outside and watched the kids play. After the sun went down it was so perfect outside. I was sad when we had to go in, but the kids were so over done for the day! Sunday morning we had our normal church stuff. Joshua's choir sang at the Traditional service. They sang "Jesus I want to be like you." It is always so sweet and touching to hear little kids praising and worshipping the Lord! They were so cute! After church we went to lunch and then headed home to rest up for another birthday party! Our friend Megan was having her 5th birthday. She had a carnival theme for her party. Unfortunately it rained so the party had to be inside. Tim took the kids since I had to be back at the church for puppet practice. The kids had fun playing different games for prizes and decorating their goody bags and cupcakes. Joshua told Tim on the way home that was a really fun party! Thanks for inviting us Megan! (and Christie!)
I told you we have been busy! We are so grateful for all of the fun activities that that kids get to participate in! Here are some pictures from the weekend. (some pictures are a copy right of Gjesvold paparazzi services) (thanks Heather!)

Bad Dog!!!

Our dog Mackenzie has a very bad habit of getting into the trash cans (like most dogs do)! He could careless if we get upset with him and spank him or put him outside. We have been trying to remember to close the bathroom doors when we leave the house so he can't get into trouble. I forgot the other day and came home to find that Mckenzie got himself into a situation! He always meets us at the door when we come home and that day he had a diaper (just a wet one) stuck around his neck. The leg hole of the diaper was still attached and his head slipped right through it. I guess he couldn't get it off so he was wearing the evidence when I walked in. I laughed so hard. Dylan found it funny as well. I tried to tell Tim and Joshua the story later but it wasn't the same without seeing the poor dog's expression! So funny!
PS
Mckenzie was never harmed in the making of this story!
