Joshua went to a fun birthday party this past weekend. It was for a friend in his class. The theme was ARMY. The kids had a ball. I had to work so Tim took them. They had an obstacle course, target practice, and used water balloons as bombs. They even had a large cardboard tank to hide behind. At dinner time they ate in the "mess hall" off of metal plates (pie pans). They got tattoos and had their face painted with camouflage. They were told to wear brown and green and were given dog tags and canteens when they arrived. It was defiantly a Boy Party! Such a cute idea!

Happy Labor Day
Today was Labor Day so we did what we always do on a holiday...EAT!! We went over to Gram and Grampie's house for lunch and spent the day with them. Uncle Chris and Aunt Bethany were home today too. Gram cooked hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill. She also made pasta salad and potato salad. Everything was so good. We were not sure what the weather was going to end up doing today so we ate inside since it was very windy and cloudy. After lunch the sun came out so we let the kids swim and sat outside for a few hours watching them and the hurricane coverage for New Orleans. Everyone was thankful that things down there did not get as bad as it was predicted. So we had a fun time making fun of the news reporters trying their best to make a story of the whole situation! It was a perfect day for being lazy and hanging out together. Those are my favorite kind of days. I brought my camera over but forgot to take pictures. You will have to use your imagination this time! Sorry!

Slip 'N Slide 101
We decided that today was a good day to get some work done in our front yard that needed to be done. Since we had to bring the kids out front with us, we had to come up with something to keep them out of trouble while we worked. We pulled out a slip and slide that we have had put up for 3 years and forgot about. The kids had the best time playing on that. Neither one of them really understood how to do it so I took it upon myself to show them. After lots of trying Joshua finally got the concept of landing on his belly to go down the slide. Dylan was happy just running through it. It kept them busy long enough for us to get the yard done. We even got Daddy to do it!

Happy Birthday Maw Maw!!!
Well, her birthday is actually Tuesday but we celebrated with her today. We drove down to Tim's parents house today to take Maw Maw out to lunch for her birthday and spend some time with them since it had been awhile since we had been there. It was a rainy day but it was kind of nice because it gave us a reason to sit inside and be lazy. We went to Pizza Hut for lunch. It was so good! After that we went back to the house and had cupcakes and ice cream. Maw Maw then opened her presents from us. Her and Paw Paw just gave their kitchen a HUGE make over so she wanted new stuff for her kitchen. Tim went out shopping for her one day and got her a new set of canisters and a trivet. She loved both of them. Good job Tim! We spent the rest of the day hanging out with Blake and watching the kids play. Hopefully it won't be so long in between visits next time. Happy Birthday Maw Maw!!!!

Back to School Bash
Wednesday night our church put on a back to school bash. It was for the entire community to come and celebrate the kids going back to school. They rented several inflatables including a water slide. Of course the kids always enjoy those. They had different bands playing outside and lots of free food. Joshua invited his friend Diego to come with us. The kids had a blast running from activity to activity. The kids also enjoyed all of the free cotton candy, popcorn, ice cream, and snow cones. We defiantly had a few belly aches by the end of the night!

Fun Run
Joshua's school had a Fun Run today. It was called a "BoosterThon." It is a new way of raising money for the school without going door to door selling stuff. Yay! I am not a fan of 100 kids in the same neighborhood trying to sell wrapping paper or pocket calendars you are never going to use to people you never talk to. Just my 2 cents worth! So the kids get pledges from family members for a dollar amount per lap around the track they walk. The track is 1/16 of a mile. The people who organized this did a great job getting the kids into it. They had fun music playing and would have the kids do different things as they ran. They had lots of water for the kids and gave them all a T-shirt. It was really fun to watch Joshua interact with his friends at school. He ended up doing 26 laps! Get out the checkbook Dad!

So Long Summer
Well I guess it is a little early to say good bye to summer but we decided to take down our pool today. Now that school has started and we are busy on the weekends it seemed pointless to continue to keep it clean and add chemicals to it. We had a great time with it this summer. It isn't a resort style pool by any means but it defiantly beat trying to squeeze into the kiddie pool with the kids! I went ahead and drained it today since it was getting pretty dirty. The kids decided they wanted one last swim so they got in as it was draining. We plan to put it up again next year. It was worth the money! Until next year "Red Neck" Pool.......
